Place of Business: Hyde Park Church
Position Description: The HR Generalist at Hyde Park Church oversees the daily operations of the human resources department, focusing primarily on managing the end-to-end employee life cycle and administering payroll. Working under the direct supervision of the HR Director, this role provides a supportive environment for all church / school staff. While this position does not directly oversee benefits, the HR Generalist will work closely and collaboratively with our dedicated Benefits Specialist.
Job Duties and / or Responsibilities:
Employee Life Cycle Management
- Partner with hiring managers to post positions. While hiring managers will lead the interview process, the HR Generalist will lead the onboarding process.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact for staff inquiries regarding policy interpretation and workplace culture. Assist the HR Director in resolving employee relations issues and conducting internal reviews.
- Work alongside supervisors to conduct Healthy Supervision check-ins.
Manage the exit process, including conducting exit interviews, processing terminations in the HRIS, and coordinating final payouts with payroll.
Payroll Administration
- Execute the end-to-end processing of semi-monthly payroll for all full-time, part-time, and seasonal church/school staff.
- Review and approve digital timecard submissions, tracking PTO, and paid ministry time.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including managing housing allowance allocations for ordained/ordained-track staff.
- Coordinate closely with the Benefits Specialist to seamlessly transition new hires from onboarding to benefits enrollment, and ensure payroll deductions accurately reflect benefits selections.
- Work alongside Benefits Specialist and payroll representative to update new benefit amounts in payroll.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date digital employee files and HRIS data. Assist the HR Director with compliance audits, handbook updates, and required workplace reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a heavy emphasis on full-cycle HR and hands-on payroll processing.
- Experience working within a church, non-profit, or faith-based organization is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a strong plus.
- Experience navigating modern HRIS and payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity, Paycom).
- Exceptional communication skills and the emotional intelligence required to handle sensitive staff matters with absolute discretion.

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
