Angela Shaw leads a discussion moderated by Jennifer Charles on what it is like being a black professional in HR. This discussion will navigate through the difficulties and challenges our profession currently faces for many black professionals and specifically black professional women in HR. We will also discuss how to be an ally, how to talk race in the workplace, and how to be empowered in the workplace as a marginalized group.

Angela Shaw is the Vice President of Human Resources for Campus Advantage, Immediate Past President for Austin Human Resource Management Association, and Adjunct Instructor at UT Austin Center for Professional Education. Angela views her servant leadership as a pathway for the legacy she hopes to build in the HR community. Angela Shaw is a passionate speaker who uses her personal storytelling to promote emotional engagement from the audience surrounding important topics like diversity and inclusion, workforce readiness, leadership, and career growth.

Angela believes herself to be a poster child for the underrepresented and uses public speaking to influence and inspire others to action.  She is always looking for the connection to give people the hope to persevere through challenges.

Approved for 1 SHRM recertification credit.
