HR Apprenticeship Opportunities

The SHRM Foundation’s Human Resource Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP) provides employers with a proven talent development solution for onboarding or upskilling HR Specialists. It also provides apprentices with a cost-effective and efficient point of entry into a well-developed career pathway in HR. To address these needs, the SHRM Foundation has developed the Human Resource Registered Apprenticeship Program (HR RAP).  

If you’re a business, it’s an opportunity to access, develop and retain the talent you need to grow now and in the future. If you’re a worker, it’s a chance to get a paycheck while training for advancement in one of America’s best-developed career pathways. 

Because the program uses field-developed competency and knowledge standards developed by SHRM, employers and apprentices are assured that the program delivers the content needed to develop an HR professional ready to take on the 21st century.

Developing the next generation of HR professionals

The SHRM Foundation’s HR RAP is a US Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship program to prepare untapped talent and upskill incumbent workers for careers in HR.

This “learn and earn” model has on-the-job training and educational requirements that leads to higher productivity, increased retention and a diversified talent pool.

  • 18-24-month program leading to taking the SHRM-CP exam
  • PDCs for SHRM members participating in the program
  • Educational requirements available from SHRM, SNHU or other educational institutions
  • Defined wage progression
